Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood and other individuals have been cleared of charges in the case related to their protest at the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)

Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, along with numerous other leaders, has been acquitted by a district and sessions court in the federal capital. The complaint was recorded at Aapbara Police Station.

The ruling, which was withheld last week, was given today by Judicial Magistrate Yasir Mehmood during the hearing on the applications for acquittal.

Additional figures who have been cleared of any wrongdoing in the investigation include Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Sheikh Rasheed, Asad Qaiser, Shehryar Afridi, Faisal Javed, Raja Khurram Nawaz, and Ali Nawaz Awan.

PTI lawyers, Advocate Sardar Masroof and Advocate Ansar Kayani, presented the arguments on behalf of the former prime minister and others in the case.

The PTI founder and other lawmakers were charged for their protest against the ECP’s Toshakhana ruling in 2022, which resulted in his temporary disqualification from holding office.

Imran Khan has been confronted with a slew of accusations, including corruption and terrorism, following his departure as the prime minister in 2022.

The founder of PTI has been incarcerated since August of last year and was found guilty in certain charges before to a nationwide election earlier this year. In addition, he is currently engaged in numerous additional legal proceedings.

The sole obstacle preventing his release is the iddat, a case involving an un-Islamic marriage, which is currently being processed. The court anticipates that the case will be concluded by the end of this month.
