At Kunri, Sindh, another camel came to light dead with all of its legs cut

Another camel was spotted dead in Kunri tehsil this week with all four of its legs removed, exposing a new terrible incidence of animal cruelty in Sindh.

News Channel obtained videos showing the animal dead at Morjhango bend.

Abdul Rashid, its owner, claims that the camel went to graze a day earlier but was ill.

“[We] want to get facts regarding the matter,” the owner told News Channel. “[We] don’t want to blame anyone.”

“I have forty to forty-five female camels. She was abandoned alone last night when they all came back from grazing,” he said.

“Whoever beat her, made her run, and sliced her legs is known to God. As of right now, we are clueless; we shall see what to do. Abdul Rashid said he was made aware of the occurrence this morning.

This is the second upsetting incident involving a camel in the last few weeks, but it’s too soon to determine if this is another instance of animal cruelty.

In Sanghar’s Mundh Jamrao neighborhood, on June 14, a landlord and his staff allegedly physically tormented a camel for straying onto his land for fodder, amputating one of its legs as a punishment.

Millions of people denounced the heinous deed as the incident’s footage went viral on social media.

Six individuals engaged in the torture were apprehended by authorities after a social media outrage and a call to action from animal rights groups and the general public to stop animal cruelty.

Later on June 20, a Sanghar court placed them on bodily remand for two days.

The victim camel was moved for treatment to Karachi on June 15. It was being looked after for rehabilitation by a non-governmental organisation as well. Cammie is how the group called the camel.

The camel was promised an artificial leg, but earlier this week it was also given a framework with a harness to stand up. Overlooking the camel’s artificial limb preparation, a team from Bioniks Pakistan assembled the structure.
