Another member of the PTI steps down

After Omar Ayub quit as PTI’s General Secretary, Junaid Akbar, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, gave his notice to quit from the party’s core committee.
A PTI Member of the National Assembly (MNA) quit the party’s core committee and said in a statement that he is not part of any group and never will be. He also attacked the leadership.

He charged some people, but did not name them, of having personal interests and using the party for their own gain. He also said that he does not have any power to make decisions and cannot reach Imran Khan, the founder of the PTI. “These people hang out with Imran Khan, but they won’t let us meet him,” he said.

On top of that, the PTI MNA said that the party leadership doesn’t want to hear his worries and only tells him about the party’s policies and decisions.

As planned, Junaid Akbar said that he and the party workers would start a drive for accountability.

The departure came the day after Omar Ayub Khan, who was Secretary General of the PTI, quit his party job.

Omar Ayub, who is also the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, quit on June 22. Imran Khan, the founder and head of the party, accepted his resignation.

Ayub wrote in his departure letter that he could not keep working as the party’s secretary general and also do his job as the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly.

He also said he was stepping down as head of the PTI’s Central Finance Board, but he insisted he would still work for the party.
